My favorite team is Manchester United. Marrying a Brit means traveling "across the Pond" to see family, but most often they come here. The reputation England has about having miserable weather is well deserved, so having family come to Florida to bask in our sunshine is the preferred method. We love traveling though, and have been to Bermuda (where I broke my foot! DUH!), the Bahamas, France, Mexico (don't drink the water), Barbados, and other, mostly warm places. Of course I had to take Philip to see a couple of our national treasures, too: Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, where it snowed on his birthday in June, and we were able to see the lake from a hot air balloon which took off and landed back on a boat! Mostly, though, we like just staying around home. We generally go to Clearwater Beach every Sunday for a long walk, or putter around our own place which is paradise to us. We live at the edge of a nature preserve, so there is always some sort of wildlife drama taking place. I also still love music, reading, and gardening - which I consider therapy! It is so gratifying, both instantly and over time to see the things one has nurtured grow and thrive. |

I ended up in LaGrande, Oregon. I worked there for two years with students who were visually impaired. Oregon was too rural for me so I decided to go to Colorado. I was fortunate enough to get a job at the school for the deaf and the blind in Colorado Springs. What a great place to work!!!! I was certified as a blind ski instructor and part of my job was to take blind kids skiing at Vail and Beaver Creek Ski Resorts!! I spent 5 years there and made my first huge mistake. I married a real looser. Thank God that only lasted for 1 year. (Got rid of him) I then went to Germany and taught for 2 years at Mannheim and Worms Elementary School for the Department of Defense. After my two year stint overseas, I found my home in Texas. I packed up my belongings in my little red car, including my dog that I brought back from Germany and drove to Texas to interview for a job. Once again, Thank God I was offered a job. I have been in Texas since 1991. I met the love of my life and we were married in 1994. We have two wonderful boys and if my mom was still alive she would say I am getting paid back for all the mischevious things I did growing up. We live on a 350 acre ranch and dabble in raising Beefmaster Cattle. My boys are involved in 4-H (its huge in Texas) The love to hunt, fish, and trap anything that breathes! We have property that has river frontage along the Guadalupe River. Go to google map and look up our address its pretty cool! We spend alot of time down at the river in our camp house just playing around. I went back to school to get my Masters in 2006 and recieved it from University of Texas in Administration and Supervision. I am currently employed by a school coopertive that services 13 school districts. I am the coordinator for students with special needs. I am currently looking at applying for a principals job. So maybe with any luck, I will be a principal when we meet up again. My life has been full of wonderful things, but the best thing that has happened to me is meeting my husband and having our two wonderful boys! I love my job and my family. I'm writing this for Mom, because she can't anymore. As some of you know, Mom developed Alzheimer Disease. She's not the same person you knew, respected, and sometimes even feared in high school. Mom has lost all short term memory, but still remembers teaching, and many of her students. She asks me about you guys from time to time (and I wish I had more to tell her). She sometimes thinks she still teaches. This is how important teaching was to her. It wasn't just her job, or career. It was her calling. She was happiest when she was in the classroom - especially when she was dealing with particularly trying students (you know who you are!). The challenge of trying to break through to a student she KNEW had potential, even when the student didn't know it, was one of the things she loved most. I didn't always see eye-to-eye with Mom. But I knew she had this uncanny ability to see the true character of people - even confused teenagers with big chips on their shoulders! She could see beneath all the bravado and drama, through the shyness and insecurity, to the person that student really was - and it made a huge difference in many of our lives. Since retiring, Mom and Dad have done alot (oh, Lord, I used the forbidden word: alot) of travelling. They loved going on cruises, and went up the Amazon, and saw Russia and Alaska that way. They also enjoyed road trips out to the San Juan mountains in Colorado, gambling junkets to Reno (when I lived there), and being snowbirds before they moved down here to Florida permanently. In the more recent years, they have had to curtail their travelling due to Mom's illness. This is so unfortunate! They looked forward to enjoying their golden years so much. They saved and prepared for retirement, hoping to be able to relax, travel, and enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, the illness has cut this short. I am going to ask everyone a favor...I'm not going to be able to attend the reunion, but I'd like to send a memory book up for you to sign for Mom. She would love to hear your memories of her classes - like Gail Coscarelli getting caught with Cliff Notes, Jim Brousseau's papers being thrown away because she couldn't read his writing, the looks we got if we "crumpled" paper before we threw it away, etc. Anything little thing you can remember that you think she might enjoy reading... I am still supporting GM & Delphi today, 25+ years later. I married for the 1st time in 1985 and had the 2 boys and got divorced in 96. I married Julie in 2001 and started my "Happily ever after" journey. I spent many years as a hockey & baseball coach and a soccer dad. We traveled to many games & tournaments all over MI. I also served as the Attica Youth Baseball/Softball President for 10 years. In the early 90's I bought an old home in Dryden that I renovated with the help of many friends. It was an extensive renovation project! In 2004, Julie & I bought my parents Lyons Road home. We have been making minor udpates to make it feel like our home. We have spent a lot of time traveling & camping with friends & family to many of the states. We also have a cabin in Northern MI where we spend most of the fall & winter months. I am looking forward to seeing many of the Class of 1979 this summer! |

I was looking through my daughter's baby book recently and recalled that Greg Baird was her first babysitter when he was Chuckles the Clown. These 30 years have held many changes for me and I have grown to know many of you as adults and value your friendship. Last year I retired after 32 years at 'ole Imlay. My last stint there was as principal at Weston and the part I loved the most about it was seeing the children of so many of my "favorite" students. Oh yeah, every one of you was my "favorite".
